   Our Clients

Klatha.com Community Computing's commitment to addressing the needs of artists, small businesses, and non-profit organizations can be clearly seen in the many diverse clients with whom we've worked.

This page is a guided tour of some of our clients, focusing mostly on web development because that's the service that best lends itself to "show-and-tell." You can view a directory of sites we host.

Visual Arts

The web is an ideal medium for many visual artists, bringing together their creative vision with the ability to directly reach their audience. Renowned artist Sara Steele has found another means of displaying her artwork; a virtual gallery with the capacity for processing online orders allows her to sell her artwork and related products directly. Visit Sara Steele's website.

Another visual artist we've developed a website for is Seth Rozin. Seth's new book, "The Artvark", is a witty, entertaining, and colorful parody of the styles (and names) of famous artists. Take a look at the The Artvark.

Artists are also heavy users of our Consulting and Training Services. We love to help artists get comfortable with computers and integrate them into the way they work.

Music

The internet has given musicians-- particularly independent musicians-- a new method of reaching their audiences and getting out their messages.

Klatha.com has a strong connection to folk musicians and the folk music scene; company founder David Chaplin-Loebell is a former concert organizer. Folk musicians have been among the most responsive to new developments in technology and have been quick to see the potential of the web for reaching audiences. One such trailblazer is Akire Bubar. Her website includes a calendar of gigs, samples of her music, an opportunity to be added to her mailing list, and information on ordering her recordings. We've also developed a site for the Irish traditional group SOLAS.

One of favorite conferences to attend is the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance conference. The experience has exposed us to folk musicians from all across the globe and has helped refine our understanding of working musicians' needs. The conferences have also allowed us to speak with many musicians about the potential that fielding their own website and/or using our e-direct mailing list service provides for getting gigs and building a larger audience. Read more about our experiences on Klatha.com's folk pages.

A community-based organization committed to the appreciation of folk music and grass-roots activism, the Folk Factory has consistently brought wonderful music to the Philadelphia area. Their open-mike nights have given beginners and veterans a rapt audience for which to play and has marked The Folk Factory as one of the most important venues in the city. Their website is informative and updated regularly. Check it out.

Our experience isn't limited to folk music. Psychopath Records, a Philly-based record label which deals mostly in rap, hip-hop, and gospel music, is a longtime client of ours. Their site displays MP3 samples of their releases. Visit Psychopath Records and listen to some of the featured artists.

Many of the tools in our site toolbox were designed with musicians in mind. Our announcement tool, described on the Community Tools page, is great for keeping in touch with a scattered audience. Our OrderForm tool is the perfect e-commerce tool for an artist who sells a few items, such as CDs. And finally, our content tools are ideal for artists who want to update their web site from the road.

Theatre

Philadelphia's theatre scene has never been so vibrant and varied. With a host of innovative playwrights, dedicated actors, and groundbreaking new plays all contributing to the scene, it's no surprise to see Philly theatre growing in prominence. At the cutting edge of much of this growth is InterAct Theatre Company. InterAct's website is the place to go for details on upcoming and past performances, information on how to order tickets, the Company's schedule of events, and a listing of the staff. Visit InterAct's website to see why this theatre company is one of Philly's finest.

Playwright and dramaturg Larry Loebell's varied work-- from crafting plays and screenplays to directing films and teaching the playwrights and filmmakers of tomorrow-- has won him numerous grants and awards. His contributions can be seen in many different areas; documentaries, full-length movies, award winning plays, and more. Larry Loebell's website achieves many aims, providing sample scenes from all of his plays, an extended version of his resume, and important biographical data.

Small Business

Small businesses have much in common with artists and musicians. Small business owners are just as innovative, driven, and concerned with connecting with their communities. Groups like the Mount Airy Business Association play an important role in helping small businesses better serve their customers and provide services to their communities. In a prescient move, MABA gave each of its members the opportunity to place a free web page in their online business directory. Klatha.com aided in the generous effort by creating pages for more than a third of the businesses in the association. See the Mount Airy Business Association's Member Directory for the grand listing. See an example of one of the pages designed by klatha.com.

We've also worked with other Philly-based clients like the Career Pro Resume Center. Career Pro Resume Center provides an invaluable service to job-seekers of all levels of experience. Offering resume consultations, career counseling, and advanced job search tools, Career Pro is a business recognized for its dedication to customer satisfaction. Don't take our word for it, though-- visit Career Pro Resume Center's website and take a look at their testimonials page. Along with testimonials, you'll find sample resumes, tips on how to write a resume, and information on some of the specialized services provided by the business.

To see an entirely different type of business, visit Reverend Bill Peterson, a local pastor whose ministry includes special services for the handicapped, wedding celebrations and spiritual healing.
